Merthyr’s KIZZY CRAWFORD is a talented 19 year old folk/jazz artist whose music melds together her Caribbean heritage with Celtic tradition. In 2012, she won the Arts Connect Original Singer/Songwriter prize. This gave the funds necessary to record her first single. The following year she was victorious at the National Eisteddfod’ Brwydr Y Bandiau. Already she’s received considerable airplay on national as well as local radio. She was even featured in the BBC’s 6 Nations 2014 promotion campaign. Among the stages she has graced so far are Glastonbury, London Jazz, Green Man, Brecon Jazz, Cheltenham Jazz and the Hay Festival. She’s been a support act for Newton Faulkner and performed alongside Cerys Matthews. Joan Armatrading, Seal, Corrine Bailey Rae, Cat Stevens, John Cale, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan are all big influences on her musical style.
